Expert hedge trimming
Well-maintained hedges define your garden's boundaries and add structure to your outdoor space. We trim all species to a clean, professional finish.
Our approach
Every hedge species has its own growth habits and preferred cutting times. We always assess your hedges before starting work, checking for nesting birds (a legal requirement between March and August) and identifying the species so we can cut at the right time and in the right way.
Formal hedges. Box, privet, yew and beech hedges are common across Leamington Spa's period properties. These respond well to twice-yearly trimming — once in late spring after the first flush, and again in late summer. We cut to maintain a slight taper (narrower at the top) so light reaches the base and prevents bare, leggy growth.
Native hedges. Hawthorn, blackthorn and holly are best cut once a year in late winter. We leave berries intact through autumn and winter to support local wildlife. These species are particularly common along boundaries in the villages around Warwick and Bishops Tachbrook.
Conifers and Leylandii. We trim conifers once in late summer, taking care never to cut into old brown wood — conifers won't regenerate from bare branches. For overgrown Leylandii, we can reduce gradually over multiple seasons to bring them back under control without causing permanent damage.
All waste removed. We clear up all hedge clippings and take them away as part of the service. Your garden is left tidy with no debris on lawns, borders or paths.
